GIVE THANKS WITH A GRATEFUL HEART RECIPIENTS
December 23, 2019
Congratulations to all recipients of the Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart Promotion.  Your acts of kindness make a big difference for people in our communities.  Enjoy your turkey meal with all the fixings and thank you for what you do!

Jessica Griffin nominated by Emily Paskaruk

“Jessica works and volunteers tirelessly for our elementary schools, and she started up Nipawin Secret Santa this year. She has been collecting donated toys all month (of Nov) and will clean, sort, wrap, and distribute the gifts to less-fortunate kids in our community. For spearheading this amazing outreach initiative, I think Jessica deserves this recognition.” Emily

Taso Gliatis nominated by Jeff & Diana Hrynkiw

Taso donated his basket to the Nipawin Food Bank

“My husband and I would like to nominate the above person, Taso, for the Turkey meal as he is an extremely hard working husband and father. He currently owns and cooks at the Venice House here in Nipawin. I believe he works everyday the entire day that the Venice House is open as they do not have another cook. Aside from that, I know first hand that he donates money, food AND time by volunteering faithfully for the Nipawin Kinsmen club as he is a Kinsmen member himself. Last spring, for example, he worked a full days shift of cooking at the Venice House, then went to volunteer after work for the Kinsmen fundraiser Nipawin Hockey Draft where he brought the food, served the food, then continued to help out at the draft for the remaining of the night which he has done for several years in a row. He volunteers and donates to many events in Nipawin and has never asked for recognition or even a thank you. I feel this man and his family deserve a wonderful turkey meal.” Jeff and Diana

Peter and Darlene Neufeld nominated by Tammy Nilson

“There are so many ways in which Pete and Darlene are deserving of this meal. Pete and Darlene live in a rural area by Choiceland – there they are of constant assistance to their neighbours – be it plowing / snow blowing for their neighbours, to starting the wood stove in a remote cabin before the neighbours arrive to their cabin, to splitting wood for a widowed neighbour, to assisting with small repairs and maintenance and so on.

Pete and Darlene are actively involved in the Choiceland Seniors organization and have been instrumental in rejuvenating the organization and the activities of the club. They spend countless hours organizing and running fundraising activities for this club; both spend countless hours volunteering their time to complete building renovations and improvements. Pete is responsible for the treasurer activities for the club and for the associated legal requirements for their non-profit group. They have worked hard to apply for grants to enhance their club presence in the community – holding paint nights, technology nights etc. that have tremendous impact in keeping seniors vibrant, involved and health. They are also great volunteers at the Choiceland Curling Rink Sunday breakfast fundraiser and at the bonspiels. They help with annual cleaning bees, painting, small repairs. Pete is a member of the Choiceland Community Services Board and participates in monthly committee meetings and all of the planned events as a volunteer – dances, fundraisers, events, family day, cutting grass, painting and so on. You will find them actively involved with the Choiceland Museum as well.

They are very caring people and the very best of neighbours.” Tammy

Karen & Murray Karla nominated by Clara & Herman Adelman

“They have cleared our driveway of snow for the last several years. They also do other seniors who are unable to shovel anymore. They refuse to take any pay for it, he does it out of the goodness of his heart.

In the fall, they share produce from their garden – corn, carrots, cucumbers, onions etc. They are all around good neighbours.” Clara & Herman

Amel Twarzinski nominated by Harvey Thibault

“Great community ambassador, always positive, and shares garden produce with lots of area residents.” Harvey

Flora Doyle nominated by Bernice Smith

“Flora is always being very helpful in all groups in the community. She volunteers at our museum setting up new displays and organizing school programs for children. She works with the senior citizens helping out in all areas and volunteer hours with the Church Ladies group. Helpful with her neighbours and always with a big smile and happy greeting.” Bernice

Donna Brazier nominated by Deneen Stuefloten

“This lady is amazing! She’s always helping someone or many, everyday. She takes people to their appointments, she looks after others houses when they are away, she has worked for other people when they asked and she never got paid. This lady has been through a lot but it never brings her down. She puts everyone’s needs before her own. She’s very thoughtful, she is the most kind, caring, and compassionate person I know.

Donna is a member of the Royal Purple Ladies and volunteers a lot of her time. I have known this beautiful lady for over 25 years and she never ceases to amaze me. When this one lady could no longer drive, she gave Donna her van to show her appreciation for the years of help she received. I am proud to call Donna my friend! She deserves all the good things in life.” Deneen
